OAK CREEK - In YouTube video posted just last week, men are seen setting an elaborate trap on what the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says is private land in Oak Creek.
The video shows a man carrying a T-shirt toward the trap. Laughter is heard as the man enters the enclosure with a deer already struggling. The laughter continues as the deer tries to get away, only to be wrestled to the ground.
The video is titled 'how to put a T-shirt on a fiesty deer'. At least five men are involved. They used at least three video cameras to capture what they did, including one camera mounted on someone's head.
The deer ran off and has since been spotted by several Oak Creek residents.
"It's always tough to see someone act like that toward a wild animal," DNR warden Kaitlin Kernosky told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. "They have an instinct to get away. They're not used to being handled."
The DNR said the men in the video have been identified, but not yet contacted by law enforcement authorities. Kernosky said each man involved could face of a fine of at least $303.

Since they were dumb enough to post a video, they will be fined and hopefully held in scorn by their neighbors.

(53,475 posts)The fine should be at least a grand. Three hundred bucks is dinner for five in Oak Creek.

(34,658 posts)Putting a tshirt on a scared wild animal, that's funny? If one of them got a mighty kick in the balls from the deer in the middle of it- that would have been funny.

(3,539 posts)Having 'spooked' more than one deer while fishing, believe me, they'll run you down in order to get out of harms way.
It's impressive if done by accident and flat out stupid if done intentionally.
That $300 dollar fine just isn't enough.

(4,443 posts)Nothing funny about scaring a wild animal. The fine should be tripled, at least.
