So this here video got "uncovered" after being left behind/planted in some camping gear. Strangely coming to light just after the bad press for the mining company. Stupid kids running around the forest or Kabuki theater produced by those in favor of the mine?

I think the timing of this release is suspect and it conveniently changes the focus away from their ridiculous security scandal.

(251 posts)Those "activists" certainly have limited vocabulary's.

(18,964 posts)I suspect one of two things:
First, this is a random group not associated with any of the mining opposition groups that fashions itself as a mini-version of Sea Shepard...
Second, it is a staged event to create backlash in favor of GTAc....

(58 posts)Or at least it does have a little "James O'Keefiness" to it. Stupid kids are for real but the whole interaction and provenance of the tape seem phony.

(18,964 posts)near the end of the tape, somebody says LOUDLY AND SLOWLY..."Oh. My. Camera."
Indicating vandalism and destruction of personal property...caught on tape...Breitbart classic.
Demonstrators purposely "scummed up"?
Bullet-point, worn-out chants, slogans...stereotypical "eco-terrorists".
This is either staged or done by the most inept group of protesters ever...

(1 post)I know trustworthy folks who know the people who stormed the GTAC workers. They were for real and were not a set-up by GTAC or anyone else. Yes--limited vocabulary, for sure! What an ineffective, nasty, self-indulgent "action." Yes, those of us against the mine are angry. But it's important to be strategic, civil, and persuasive in our actions, I believe. This childish "action" I'm afraid has seriously harmed the reputation of anti-mine activists. Friends who were up in Hurley last night told me they were shouted off the street by people who thought they were cut from the same cloth as the vandals.
No, they were not paid off by GTAC, but GTAC could not have asked for better help for their mine project. I hope other anti-mine activists can quickly redeem their credibility.
It's important to focus on what GTAC *is* doing, rather than making things up. The reality of what GTAC is up to is bad enough.
