(18,964 posts)When you look at "the numbers" in this district you will see that the gerrymandering by our "beloved" Republican legislature has been so effective that it is almost impossible for a Democrat to win in this district.
The Republican Party in District 69 has been so radicalized and tea-partied that it might as well be a District in Texas.
Here's a link to a newspaper account of the TEA PARTY FORUM held last night for the four Republican candidates running in the District:

Get a tight grip on your sanity before you read the comments by the candidates....you're going to need it...
One of the candidates is a friend and colleague. In reality and practice, she's not as radical as she comes off here but she's smart enough to know that she has to "out crazy the crazies" in order to win the primary...that's what they're all trying to do.
Good luck to any Democrat who takes on this suicide mission.
