Do you mean by "Toronto"?

Do you mean the Old City, the current super-city or the GTA (Greater Toronto Area)?

Any idea where you would be working, location-wise?

Do you drive?

What are your wants re: local facilities? Clubs, neighborhoods, suburbia, exurbia, Downtown, the Lake, parks, the "country"?

For a start, I pay $950 for one floor of a gutted and redone Victorian in an area close to High Park, Queen St. West, the lake and downtown.

But give me a sense of what you're looking for.....

On edit, Scarborough is sometimes caller "Scarberia".

I'm looking for something pretty central - so probably in the actual city and not the GTA. I was thinking maybe Leslieville or Cabbagetown. I don't have a car so transit is a must. As far as wants, I wouldn't mind a quiet street but one a block or two from some good restaurants, shops, etc. My biggest concern is transit. I just want to get the hell out of Vancouver.

There are lots of condo/apt buildings in Scarborough. I prefer the downtown area.
My younger son lived around Yonge /Eglinton ...lots of young people...I loved his apt. Unfortunately he got a brain tumor and died but it was close to his hospital and he would rollerblade there. Toronto has so many big parks that connect and you would never know you were in the city if you were in them.

It all depends if you have a car or what space you need.

My older son was on Belmont which is a block north of bloor /yonge near yorkville. He had a house. rented for about 2k...plus utilities. but he ran his business from it. pricey neighborhood. But his clients were there. It had no place to put a car but you can pay for parking per 6 months on the street from the city ...must park in designated streets... Google up Toronto City Parking.

He moved out and moved in with his girlfriend in low rental apt in Parkdale. which is on King street W. Lake Ontario was behind them ( a big walk) Some people don't like the area but some do. I found it similar to Greenwich Village in NYC...

Lots of people who are not rich live there but they are very, very nice. Old big houses on tree lined streets that you could get an apt or rent a room. It is very "community" and caring.

If I moved down there again..I would try Parkdale out. The streetcar went right bye him. I love the TTC...best bargain in the city. You can get a month pass or a week or day pass or pay as you go..
It covers a lot of area. I would say about 40 square km. The city is dynamic, alive, so much like NYC , that is why they call it the LIttle apple.

I always loved NYC.. I used to live in NJ and could see the twin towers from my house.
Living in Toronto was so awesome....
All visitors would write on their postcards that I would read and it was always "so clean, so safe, so much to do."

Parkdale sounds very promising. I'm a writer so I'd like to be someplace "artsy." There's no culture out here...kind of sad. The TTC would be my main mode of transportation. Trying to remain car-less for as long as I can.

Some people hear "Parkdale" and get scared...they've never been here.

I moved here from the north end 3 years ago, a white-bread area. Parkdale is Pumpernickel. I have never felt unsafe, it's very diverse, the 501 Queen St. streetcar, the longest route in North America, shoots straight downtown or over to Roncesvalles and it's Polish shops. It's a 10 minute bus ride north to the Bloor/Danforth subway, and that connects to EVERYTHING.

I looked all over the city and settled here for the vibrant atmosphere.

A lot of Tibetans currently in the area and some excellent restaurants.

Queen St. is artsy/trendy and the trendy fungus is slowly seeping into the area. House prices are astronomical.
