Have we really come to this in Canada?

This is a terrific way to make a difference right here at home. Your gift will help support the Food for Hungry Families Programme, which feeds at-risk Canadian families living in poverty. Honour anyone special in your life with the loving gift of food for one struggling family.

How depressing. Harper is a useless shit of a PM all he cares about is pipelines and "investment".

Honestly I don't have any reason to believe that our standard of living is ever going to rebound to that of mid 70's. Without a radical rethinking of how our economy works, the trend will continue. Very sad.

You are deluding yourselves if you think this is anything new within Canada or any other 1st world country for that matter. There will always be needy families regardless of what political party sits in the big chair.

From an over 50 year history of belonging to a number of service clubs in Canada; I can attest to each one of them having volunteer committees to elicit food donations and distribute those donations to needy families. That has been going on for over a hundred years!

Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way, etc., etc., just why is it do you think they exist and have existed for eons? Get a grip folks, nothing new here.

Harper is no more responsible for that phenomena within Canada than the man in the moon.

In fact the Mr works for a food bank and I know how much the need has increased by over the years. No, what shocked me about this is that these charities are soliciting for Canada as if it is a third world country. Under Harper it appears we are not only reaching third world status with poverty, but we are turning into a banana republic as well. And FYI it has gotten far worse under the chairman.

Welcome to DU stranger, but a word of advice... You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Oooopsy: I was forgetting that most fundamental rule of groups versus forums and posting a rebuttal to the obvious attempt you were making to "catching flies with honey" by posting "how depressing, Harper is a useless shit of a PM".

Catching flies is not very high on my priority list and neither is placating your desire to be agreed with. In future I will of course moderate my response to be in keeping with your admonishment with the realization you own this thread and only those posts that are properly formatted with the like minded nonsense of castigating Harper need be considered.

Carry on.

the rudeness of your tone I was objecting to. I could care less if you love Harper, although you might find it uncomfortable to do so on this board.

You seem to be one sad person with a very short fuse. I won't engage with you anymore, so hopefully that might bring you some peace. And have the last word if it makes you feel better too.

Here's a hug, I have a feeling that you need one.

s/he was a bit over the top for sure.

Maybe it was the chairman himself, he took my Harper comment personally and wouldn't let go of it either.
