Couple switches big wedding to small, to help Syrian refugees

From the article:

A Toronto couple cancelled plans for a big, expensive wedding and asked guests at their small city hall ceremony to donate money in lieu of gifts — all to help them raise thousands of dollars to sponsor a family of Syrian refugees.

This couple were very generous.

In my northern neck of the woods a group is getting together to welcome a Syrian family. I am contributing

Not everyone here wants these refugees. Most people up here have not traveled far from where they were born so different cultures are scary for them.
