Nigel Farage: Trump comments just 'alpha male boasting'

http://www.itv.com/news/2016-10-09/nigel-farage-trump-comments-just-alpha-male-boasting/

Interim Ukip leader Nigel Farage has insisted that Donald Trump's obscene remarks about sexually assaulting women amounted to "alpha male boasting".

Speaking in St Louis, Missouri, where he is attending this week's televised debate as a Trump supporter, Mr Farage said the comments were "ugly", but said women also say things they would not want reported.

"Look, this is alpha male boasting. It's the kind of thing, if we are being honest, that men do. They sit around and have a drink and they talk like this.

"By the way, quite a lot of women say things amongst themselves that they would not want to see on Fox News, or the front page of a newspaper. I'm not pretending it's good - it's ugly, it is ugly."

His comments echo the initial response of Mr Trump who dismissed the comments caught on video tape as "locker room banter" before the scale of the crisis forced him to issue an apology.

I'm not surprised.

Other guys will talk about how they'd like to get in a certain female's pants. THESE things are locker room talk. But I've never heard anybody talk about uncontrolled forcing themselves on a female or walking up to them and grabbing them by certain parts. Why? Because men generally see those actions as physical assault.

Two possibilities (at least):

1. Farage has just revealed a lot about the company he keeps. And if he's witnessed any of this, then he's failed to speak out against, or even report to the police, sexual assault. Not good.

2. He's never been in a "locker room" in his life, and wouldn't know an "alpha male" if one bit him on the nose.

Mind you, he went to a boys-only public school (Dulwich College; a public school = a private school in the UK, for any Americans reading; go figure), so I'd imagine women were only a theoretical construct for much of his upbringing, which probably explains a lot. From all accounts, he was too busy during that period being a neo-fascist to have much time left over for the opposite sex.

and why is someone from something called the United Kingdom Independence Party so interested in kissing a foreign 'leader's' rump?

Nige definitely comes into the deplorable category!

I can remember them claiming on a number of occasions (usually involving their former MEP Godfrey Bloom) that a bigoted / misogynist outbvurst was just the sort of stuff you heard down your local rugby club.

The trouble with this argument is it's blatantly false. I follow rugby at Championship level and you would not last long in those places if you went around being racist the whole time. Which may be why UKIP in Rotherham are actually quite hostile towards Rotherham Titans rugby club!
