Comic actor Mel Smith dies of heart attack aged 60
Mel Smith, the comic actor who shot to fame through the ground-breaking sketch show Not The Nine O’Clock News, has died, aged 60.Smith was found dead on Friday morning at his north London home. The performer, who had suffered poor health for a number of years, died of a heart attack, his agent Michael Foster confirmed.
A larger-than-life figure, famed for his lugubrious hangdog expression, Smith followed his early 80s breakthrough with the topical Not The Nine O’Clock News, by forming a hugely successful double act with his screen colleague Griff Rhys Jones, in the BBC sketch series Alas, Smith and Jones.

Bloody hell. 60. That's no age. Well, that man gave me a lot of joy over the years. Difficult to think of one piece to post, but this is him at his best. RIP, mate.
