A man caught doing 180mph in a police chase on the M6 in the West Midlands has been jailed for nine years.
Ben Westwood, of Woden Road, Wednesfield, is thought to be the fastest driver to be caught in the UK.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how during the 65-mile chase in January Westwood, 33, almost outpaced the police helicopter, in a stolen car.

Jail sentence for 100mph car chase driver.
A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after taking police on two high-speed car chases over six months.
Christopher Wright, 24, from the Forest of Dean, was first arrested in July after being caught driving at more than 100mph. While awaiting sentencing for that offence, he was caught speeding again last month.
The judge told Wright it was only by chance that he had not killed anyone

(42,239 posts)Its was 180 mph in an Audi RS5 - maybe re-chipped. Top speed on a standard model is 174mph with the limiter off.
The car in other video wasn't claimed to doing that speed.

(34,825 posts)i clicked on the second link and watched the video there. yep, an RS5 is more than capable of attaining that speed with a couple of mods.
