suggesting that he try tofu and mash to reduce gout! That got a tiny tiny laugh. Also, tofu and kidney pie which got a, eww reaction.

Especially in the morning, but we can at any time, even teatime.

I'm quite a coffee fan, myself.

That being said, I was once introduced by Brazilian visitors to a particularly strong brand of their coffee, and that did practically send me bouncing off the wall!

Yes - reasonably accurate.

On the subject of taps / faucets - my father figured that the convention of cold on the right is maintianed for the benefit of the blind. I prefer separate to mixers myself.

Yes - Sitting next to them on the bus when there are other open seats conveys weirdness.

Though like many British-isms, this is getting a bit less true nowadays, especially under the influence of the modern celebrity culture.

the term "awesome"! I was hoping to get away from that when I visit England but hear that now it's used by the trendy set. I hear it enough in Southern California and need a break!

Personally I think rugby union is far superior, but Channel 4 have quite a bit of NFL coverage, they keep having NFL games at Wembley (which I think is daft) and there are American football teams over here. When I lived in Colchester a few of my friends tried to get me into watching Colchester Gladiators.

and tennis in college. Then spent 20 years coaching soccer and running clubs. Never around rugby but I'm sure I could get into it as well. Soccer still my favorite.
