Could Chief Justice John Roberts be the voice of reason?

Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and whoever Trump and Turtleman appoint and confirm are the Arch Conservative voting bloc.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomeyer, and Elena Kagan are the Progressive Liberal voting bloc.

John Roberts is going to be the swing vote in the US Supreme Court.

the court will definately be moving to the right for a at least a generation with who knows what else is to come. HOPE died in Nov. 16 for lots of reasons but you can never predict the future.

If Roberts has any of the old Republican in him, maybe there’s hope. That’s all.

Don’t try to make a big conflict over a meager nod to the Bush era.

10. The center has just moved. If Clarence Thomas retires, it will be locked in for a generation.

Attempting to shame turtle man McConnell will do no good, as he has been shameless for years.

This is the price of not showing up for midterms.

if his ACA vote was actually intentional as a way to get ACA over the Constitutional bar while assuring that it was crippled.

Read Roberts Obergefell dissent. He is almost as sure as Alito.

8. Interesting Theory, But . . .

It would have been far simpler for him to vote with the right-wing extremists (including Kennedy) and kill the ACA entirely.

I expect that he will not be eager, to put it mildly, to overturn Roe. That doesn't mean that Kennedy retiring isn't bad news; it is. But I don't think it's going to be the automatic disaster that we fear.

12. You kill ACA

then you lose a campaign issue. Running against seemed to work pretty well. The Republicans were successful in sabotaging it

13. Killing Roe Is a Campaign Issue Too

Kill it and the Rethugs will be voted out in droves. Don't kill it and it can be kept alive as a rallying cry for decades - much as it has been. So your logic applies with equal force to Roe, but actually has even stronger application to Roe because it is far older and more settled than the ACA.
