Mitt Romney will raise your taxes, and with the conservatives' blessing. Proof here.

Printed in the Akron Beacon Journal 8/16/2011, from Joe Hallett of the Columbus Dispatch:

Last Tuesday morning's first slug of coffee had barely jumpstarted the brain when the Blackberry rattled with an urgent request to call Jeffrey Sadosky, communication director for Republican Sen. Rob Portman (OH).

"There's a key part missing in the article that ends up asserting that Portman is supporting tax increases; far from it," Sadosky said in an email, referring to a story about his boss' meeting with the Dispatch's editorial board a day earlier.

Mentally perusing the story I had written for Tuesday's paper, I was certain it said specifically that Portman had ruled out taxes in his plan to tackle the nation's crushing debt.

Later, the paper in hand confirmed it: Portman said tax increases, particularly while the economy is ailing, should not be part of the deficit fix. ...

How could it be stated any clearer?

But it was the rest of the paragraph that apparently caused Sadosky to have visions of tea partyers (note, lower case was in the article) with pitchforks storming Portman's office.

... but he did not oppose raising revenue by getting rid of tax 'preferences,' including certain loopholes, credits, deductions and exclusions. Some conservatives see eliminating them as backdoor tax hikes.

Portman also sees them as backdoor tax hikes,
Sadosky said in a follow-up email.

Mitt Romney says that he will "fund" the tax cuts by "eliminating loopholes and deductions" etc. - which, if it were a Democrat saying it, would be touted as a TAX HIKE.

Much like the fact that the "deep cuts in spending on X" are actually cuts to the annual INCREASES in program X ... it's often said by Repugniconvicts about Social Security, or other so-called "entitlements", but not mentioned in the "liberally-biased media" as so about the "deep, troubling, and dangerous" cuts in military spending.
