Before we celebrate the demise of the Republican party, please remember ...

2000, 2002, 2004 - The Dems are dying/dead as a viable party

2006 - The Repubs are a dying party

2010 - The Dems are a dying party, Obama's toast in 2012

2012 - The Repubs are a dying party

The media, my "friends", - no friend to liberals/dems.

Remember, John Edwards, a citizen not running for any office, was followed to the point where he was outed as a philanderer.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a candidate for the office of Governor of California, then governor, and subject of discussion of nixing the "natural born citizen" clause of the constitution, was reported as a "womanizer". And yet, the "liberally-biased media" never found the son he fathered to someone he was NOT married to ... before he announced his candidacy. And yet, he was one of the biggest names in Hollywood, with movie deals all over the place, and "followed" by the paparazzi ...

the end of both parties many times over the years. It's just bullshit to fill the 24/7 news cycle.

Mondale (who was pretty awesome) had been stomped by Reagan in 1984, but I expected that. 1988, however, was quite different. Dukakis' loss to Bush I had people claiming the Democratic Party was dead, and many in the party believed it. That's when we made a hard-right turn. We nominated Clinton (a Southern conservative) in 1992, and it's been all DLC all the time since then ...

Until a few weeks ago. I am quite pleased with the way the Democratic Party is handling itself at the moment, but I continue to reserve judgment (even if I always begrudgingly give my vote).

That said, the Republican Party must either change or die. Demographics demand it. The younger generations demand it.

Hello. New to this forum. I live in Indiana, a very "red" state. The GOP is fracturing, and The Tea Party is partially to blame. Look, you have Sean Hannity suggesting that a Conservative Party be formed. So, take stock. A Conservative Party. The Republican Party. The Libertarian Party. This could be good for us. We need to get out the Democrat vote, and stay united. The GOP is having major issues. And the far right is angrier than ever. I hate to play on words, but the Tea Party has brewed up nothing useful. This is not the time to rest. We have to get the votes out, and get motivated. The right wing threads are as anti-GOP as you can imagine. No the GOP is not dead, but it is hurting. And the honest, thoughtful Republicans are being drowned out by extremists. Sad. And I mean it.
