4 outlets where almost all others have two.
Might encourage overload, but I will use an outlet strip, usually with a breaker, when I need more than two outlets.
And it's just double the common switched/unswitched outlet. I have one and don't use it.
In the too common case of a transformer hogging outlets, I found extension cords which are 6 inches long, that only take up one "space" rather that 1.5, or the frustrating 1.25, both of which round up to two, or three if the transformer is not at the end of an outlet strip.
I *do* use a lot of outlet strips. Gone are the days when the amplifier had extra power jacks for the tuner and turntable. But there's some comfort in the breaker that's inside outlet strips.
I use one every time I test some questionable new or old gizmo.
Kids and older folks! Don't play with electricity unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing, and be sure to test that neon lamp or meter before you use it to declare a line "cold"
