omg HELP I've been hijacked or something-ads everywhere

I've run Microsoft Security essentials, Malwarebytes, CC cleaner. I have adds popping up all over. I don't know what else to do. It's even making certain words blue underlined links to popup ads and if you roll over it, an ad pops up.

Does anyone have any other suggestions. Everytime I click on anything a new tab opens with an ad. This is a nightmare.

Thanks in advance.

If you've tried several different scans with no success it could be a rootkit infection. lpbk2713 Dec 2014 #3

Probably something that your current software can't get rid of.

If you can figure out if the links are all pointing to the same place, you might be able to do a search on that and find something out there that can get rid of it. This happened to me years ago and that's what I had to do. I don't recall at the moment what was used to remove it

I hovered over some of the links and they all come from "Ads by Info" and sure enough if you search for that there are removal tools to get rid of it. thank you.

For Spybot, click on a mirror and dl from there.

Be sure to de-activate your MS Essentials in Control Panel before you do anything.

You didn't indicate what OS you are using. Do a Google search for (OS) + Rootkit for more in depth searches. Many are free, I know McAfee has a free rootkit finder download.

https://adblockplus.org/

You might also want to try ninite-dot-com and download the security apps there.

https://ninite.com/

All these are for free.

It would also really help if you told us what OS you have - then somebody here can guide you in the best direction.

Update: More on this 1-reply thread. I had a similar problem with "Ad Choices"

I tried everything. I also did as Arcane1 (above) suggested. I hovered over the underlined links and they were all from "Ads by Info" and sure enough I searched for that and up came all these sites with a removal tool. What a pain that was!!!! Everyone here is so helpful (and knowledgeable). I will look at the link you send me too, to check it out.
