I clean-installed Windows 7 on my HP laptop which was running Vista.

Now I can't connect to my wireless home internet connection. The computer can "see" the Belkin router I'm using, but won't connect.

I went to Google and there are about a million other folks who can't connect to the internet after installing Windows 7.

What is the problem? Is there a driver needed? If so, where do I get it? Guess I would have to download a driver onto a flash drive and load it onto my laptop, since I can't connect to the internet.

help please? NO ONE seems to know what the problem is.

laptop that had been working OK for a few years. It might have been a Windows update that caused the problem, knocking everything offline.

All of a sudden it stopped connecting. But, after playing around for an hour or two, I got it working again. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I kept clicking on screens and menus until it finally worked.

If the router isn't that far away, a cheap network cable from the dollar store should work just fine until you get it figured out.

(Do you have a password protected WiFi connection that you forgot about? That wasn't my problem, but with an OS change you could easily miss it.)

I've entered either the security type or the password about a half dozen times, each. It doesn't work.

I'm on my desktop now, and the internet connection works fine on it.

You'd think, with all the people having trouble with this, specifically related to Windows 7, that someone would have a clue what's going on.

The key is usually on the bottom of the router and often has to be entered before the router will allow a full connection.
