Problems connecting laptop

I have been trying to connect my laptop to the internet and I think the problem is the pic. In the pic you will see that it says my wireless network connection has no internet access. I want my home network to have the wireless network connection with internet access. I think once this is done, my laptop will be able to connect to the internet.

How do I fix this?

on edit: The pic is from my desktop which has the router connected to it.

Yep, that's what seems to be causing the problem. cynatnite Mar 2012 #3

The pic shows that it sees your laptop looks like 4 bars. The laptop is probably the problem. CK_John Mar 2012 #5

...your Home network appears twice, which may be a problem and I'm not sure what to do about that.

Under "Control Panel\Network and Internet\HomeGroup" click on "Advanced sharing settings...".
Be sure "Turn on network discovery" is selected. This worked for me.

I've done that and it doesn't seem to change anything. I tried deleting one of those, but it doesn't help. I need to be able to have the home network connected to the wireless network connection. That's what I can't figure out. Thanks for the help.

I have a Cisco/Linksys wireless router and it will let the wireless computer see the other computers and vice versa. I can exchange files back and forth.
It will not let the wireless computer connect to the Internet. No way, no how. Those computers connected with the Cat5 work just fine to the Internet.
I have two hard drive for this wireless computer. One with Ubuntu and the other with the Windows Vista it came with. The problem does not change with the operating system.
One day the wireless was working fine and the next it would not connect with either operating system. Nothing I have done has changed anything.

It can't be the network card in the wireless computer, because it can see the other computers and the other wireless routers in the neighborhood, including my own. And to do that, there has to be two way communication between the computer and my router. Which means my wireless router should be working.
If it means anything, I have AT&T DSL.

Google is no help. I really do not want to buy another router(the expense), just to see if that is the problem, unless I have a real reason to replace it.

Check that the wireless is turned on and recieving/sending, (fn+f8) on most machines.

The laptop needs a utility to connect, etc. Have you got the most current version from your machine vender. Acre, toshiba, IBM?

Have you a user's guide for your Make and model?

I had problems from time to time with being online. Maybe there was some kind of conflict.
