OS X Yosemite, Version 10.10.2 (14c109)

So when I up graded i did not get "Pages". So, I went to the software (not going to say app), and bought and installed it. created a resume, and saved it to my desktop. I tried to oped the file, and found I could not edit it. Now Pages acts like it has never seen it, wont open the file. Somehow I got it to a PDF file, but cant get in to edit it. Whats wrong, it cant really be this hard to save, open and edit a document.
In my opinion, OS X has been much harder to get to work than Windows ever was. I though it was supposed to be more used friendly, I must be stupid
Please can somebody help, I have a job lead, I would like to email my resume to them.
