I am looking at simple to use computers

For my 61 year old self who is semi-computer literate and my 77 year old Aunt who is not but she would like to try it. A good friend recommended a HP 530t but I noticed it comes standard with s Blu-ray DVR.

My ignorant question is: Is Blu-ray the only game in town now and would it read/record any other formats? I have genealogy resources I would hate to have to translate to another format.

Any Blu-ray RW will read and record both DVD's and CD's. hobbit709 Apr 2012 #2

As a retirement thing I fix PCs.
Most of what comes by are either HP or no names.
Anything by Dell is rare and they are usual old and have had a hard life.
If a Dell is still under extended warranty, I just call them. They send parts.
Even if you know what the bad part is their customer support must fill out their checklist.
I've found them nice to work with.
Dell is a touch more expensive. In my experience, well worth it.
Just don't order on line. Call the 800 number. The difference begins to show.

By the by, ease of use depends on the operating system, not the hardware.
It will likely be Win 7.

Refurbished to factory specs, with full factory warranties. Often there are 20-30% off coupon codes and free shipping.
