I've got the original, but I'd recommend checking out the Le Pan II which sells for only about $225.

The Le Pan is Android, has a big screen (9.7&quot , and does all the basic stuff and a lot extra. Even the original came preloaded with ebook software, YouTube, etc. The original sells for around $180 most places. The quality of the image is outstanding.

The only problem I've had was with some fussy WiFi spots that required getting to their own web site before allowing a connection. My Le Pan's Google browser keeps over riding but I consider that more a flaw with the WiFi than with the Le Pan.

If you can get the Field Guides on Android, it would do what you need.
