Saving cell phone data

A friend recently lost their iphone and all their numbers etal. Is there a way to move the phone number data to another device for storage?

It would turn on, but not boot up.
They programed the replacement with all my information, numbers, etc. The only thing I 'lost' were some pictures, but I had saved those on my computer. I'd start with the Apple store.
