Desparately need help with Firefox Versions.
So frustrating. I'm on dialup only. No possibility of acquiring broadband. I have and love using Firefox (version 4.0.1) but it is getting slower and slower (yes, I emptied cache & history and everything I could find) but nothing helps. Plus more and more websites are stating they are incompatible with my old version.
I'd like a newer version. But I hesitate to download the newest Firefox version - it's huge, plus I've read a little in this forum about problems people are having with some of the newer versions.
What would work best for me?
OS is Windows XP Home Edition version 5.1 (Service Pak 2) on a 2002 Acer desktop, 181 GHz, 448 megs RAM.
I would love any help/advice anyone can send my way. It will take me awhile to digest it - and interact with you. I'm almost as old and slow as the computer. But any help will be appreciated.
Can't get back online till tomorrow.
Thanks!

I had to go to FF ...10, I think after websites refused to play with older versions.
I use my Opera browser for slow loading pages.

(9,314 posts)which is version 21, is the use of the spell check on Google docs and that is a Google docs problem as none of the spell checks on Chrome work either.
It is my understanding that Firefox updates are most often done for security reasons and that using old versions leave you vulnerable to security risks.
