Monitor too "hot"

http://m.samsung.com/my/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/monitor/led-monitor/LS23C570HS/XM

Well I got a new monitor.
I'm having a heck of a time calabrating this monitor. I tried the Samsung MagicTune. Plus other online charts and even the Windows 7 calibrator. I am running it on an XFX 4870 video card.

It's real bright to my eyes. Not just brightness but a "loud" look. I am coming from a Samsung SycMaster 21bw.

Any advice to help tone this monitor down would be appreciated.

to get your monitor close to correct for brightness is to do the following:
Go to DPReview.com, pick any of their camera reviews.
At the bottom of the page will be a 26-value white-to-black gradient.
Adjust your brightness and contrast so that you can see the difference between all 26 shades. (Both values will usually end up being at 60% or less.)
