I hate the new yahoo mail. I am looking to change. Other than gmail, what are a couple
of good choices.

(2,805 posts)I never thought about my "throwaway" email account being reliable before the change but realize now that I have quite a few emails there that I consider important and worry that they might disappear.
One thing to try is to get rid of "conversations" where they group emails by subject line. It is, hit the cog in the upper right corner and select Settings. Then Viewing Email and then untick the box for Enable Conversations. That way you get each email separately.
As far as other email services, I am sure there are many. I signed up for GMX to give it a try but have not migrated any contacts to that service so cant really tell you how good it is or not. I saw it referenced on a couple of forums when I was looking for a new free provider but later saw some negative reviews. It seems like a decent service if you want to try that one out. http://www.gmx.com/
I also found that you can set up Thunderbird to synchronize with your Yahoo mail and read your mail through that program. It was fairly easy to set up but I would have to refresh myself on the steps. It allows you to read your Yahoo mail in an Outlook type interface. I've actually gotten more used to the new Yahoo mail and rarely use it but I do have it available to me.

(2,805 posts)In one way I like them but find it is very easy to miss a message and also very easy to delete an entire conversation when merely trying to click on it to open it. They really messed up a familiar interface for little gain in my opinion but I doubt they will ever go back. I'm not adverse to changes but I just don't see any real improvement even on a purely aesthetic level.

(55,981 posts)it shows up in your inbox with the original message in the conversation. I've had to search thru conversations to find emails.
