Where is my repair/permissions?

A while ago I got a great advice here to check repair/permission in the utilities folder when the iMAC acts.

Decided to do it again, went to the application, utilities and... this function is not there!

Tried to do a global search and I am getting all kind of files - like income taxes - but nothing there. Where has it gone?

Shell I take it to the Apple repair shop, assuming they will even look at my iMac from four years ago? Sadly, the locally owned store that was so helpful for us with several desktops and laptops had to close because Apple opened a store a few blocks from it..

Thanks

Go to utilities>disc utilities>click on hard drive>1st Aid if not default>repair permissions. Let me know if that was it. I like to be right!! Hee Hee. My wife always asks me to help with her computer problems and when I don't come up with the solution instantly- she says, "You don't know nothing." But when I get it right off, "You know everything."

I went the wrong path. For some reasons I thought that that function would be in the utilities. I did select disk utilities but when directly to verify and I was faced with different folders.

Spouse, meanwhile, decided to, hey, try on the laptop and then I realized that I had to first select the disk.

As for your wife, I don't know how much you know about gardening, for example, but my hat off to your Mac..

He said, before the accident, I loved that t-shirt that said, "I don't need Google. My wife knows everything." After the accident, not so much.
