1. As a longtime AppleTV user... Seems like a hardware problem.

Possibly with the AppleTV or TV... Here's how to troubleshoot (if possible)...

1. Connect your AppleTV to another HDMI port on your TV;
2. Connect your AppleTV to another HDMI TV;
3. Connect another device (computer or laptop) to your TV via the same HDMI port;

It's unlikely the cable since you swapped them out. My guess is a problem with he HDMI signal OUTPUT from the AppleTV or INPUT into your current HDMI port into your TV (OR HDMI input in general to your TV).

I've gone to both the Apple Store and to third party repair shops for all things Apple and have never been disappointed. Some shops will accept shipped-in equipment.

don't know how to fix that. Turning it off and then back on again seems to work most of the time (for a while).

Sounds a little like both wifi and ethernet are attached and it's fighting about which to use. But ... if you're using Wifi, I'd try switching to Ethernet. If you're using Ethernet, I'd switch to Wifi. Just to see if it makes a difference.

Hope this helps

Might just use the Amazon Fire instead. I have one that is not being used.

Or Roku. That works great in another room.

Have not done those yet but perhaps they are already using the latest updates anyway.

Turned out to be the HDMI cable. After trying three that did not work the fourth did the trick.
