Related: About this forumApril 7th: President Obama to introduce 'To Kill a Mockingbird'
4/3/12
President Barack Obama will briefly introduce a Saturday airing of the Gregory Peck-starring "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Obama taped about a minute of remarks to air before the first national showing of a restored version of the classic tale of Southern racial tensions in the 1930s, USA Network said Tuesday. USA is airing the movie at 8 p.m. on Saturday in partnership with the American Film Institute and Universal Picture.
The White House has not yet released his remarks, which could touch on issues of race and equality.
Harper Lee, the famously publicity-shy author of the book on which the movie is based said in a statement that she is "deeply honored that President Obama will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by introducing it to a national audience."

presented this last year. I played the role of Bob Ewell, my first villain role. It took me awhile to get that character out of my head. The role was much like my stepfather and I played him. Shit that I thought I had gotten over 50 years ago came back to haunt me for awhile. But, I was successful in the role. I had one lady come up to me afterwards and say, "You were soooooo creepy!" I took that as a complement of my acting ability.
