The mission of the Barack Obama Group is to discuss information and news about the life, career, accomplishments, and presidency of Barack Obama; to provide a haven for those members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies; to discuss President Obama's policy positions, speeches, interviews, and other public appearances; to discuss President Obama's political campaigns; and to discuss the causes which President Obama has championed, including health care reform and ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Those who have a generally negative view of President Obama and his administration, support his defeat in the 2012 presidential election (in primaries or the general election), or who are generally supportive of those who do, are not welcome in the Barack Obama Group.

When I was the newbie, I unwittingly opened a real can of worms by simply asking an honest, loyal question on policy. The problem lay not in the group's policy or reaction, but rather the way outsiders latched onto my innocent question and swamped us with such offal that the thread had to be locked. Not for a moment had I expected that to happen, but oy vey did I ever learn a hard lesson! I think everyone here understood, shall we say, my naivite (I can't spell this morning!) and no one seems to have held it against me. I don't know what it is you said, but honest mistakes can be forgiven the well-intentioned soul. It's just that the rules in here have to be as strict as they are for a very functional as well as philosophical reason.

BTW, your parents gave you one of my favorite names in the entire world.

I totally pulled a noob move and posted in the wrong forum without reading the rules. That's a mistake you only make once, haha. I'm just lucky that sheshe2 decided to enlighten me vs flame me out.

is no where close to how much President Obama doesn't want to have to go there.

But if he has reason to believe that it needs to be done, I trust his judgement. That is why I voted, donated and campaigned for him to be my leader. I've never had faith in any political figure as I do with Obama.

I don't believe he wants a war. I believe he knows more than we do. His history of foreign affairs experience is excellent. I don't believe he's been corrupted by power or money.

If I'm wrong, I'll admit it and be devastated. But I don't think so. No one is that good an actor..................................

It is a heart wrenching situation. Violence is such an awful thing.

I do not want anyone to die. Not with a strike by our Government. Yet I do not know how we can stand aside and let a head of state destroy it's citizens. Intelligence says that Assad ordered this.

I am in pain over this.

I am glad that we have a President with a level and compassionate heart. Ye, I trust him to make the right decision.

If this makes me a hypocrite, so be it. If Romney was in office right now, I would be protesting. But I am not. Nothing in President Obama's background indicates that he cares for profits or corporate interests over people. Nothing indicates that he wants war for oil or empire. I still believe him to be a man of peace. I voted for him for peace, my Obama '08 bumper sticker had peace symbols on either side of it just to show my point. I very trully believe he goes into this with a very heavy heart. I believe he is faced with a very difficult no-win situation and I wish him well in making the right decision.

The thought of this country dropping bombs again just kills me, but President Obama has been so excellent to date for women's rights, minorities, the economy and, yes, peace. Against my usual nature, I will trust him on this.

As I said, either way will hurt our souls.

what i would like to see happen is if they come up with a proposal to get rid of the chemical weapons to also have something to help the victims of this civil war.
