Even MSNBC is repeating insurance industry claims that the back end of the sign up is a disaster.

Its hard to judge without an objective metric, which the insurance industry isn't, whether it is true that the information from the Marketplace to the insurance company is as corrupted as they state.

While I found a lot of problems with the sign up and verification stages, once I got signed up the follow up from the insurance company has been without any incident whatsoever. I simply have to pay the premium and will be able to use it January 1st.

There are numerous advantages that the website has so I hope people will stick with it.

When you are on the website you can call or use live chat. You also can see the different plans and when you come back log in and resume from where you were.

Also if you apply for a subsidy then you will be able to see the subsidy immediately.

So I hope people will continue to try the federal site.

I know that it will help navigate plenty of people through the system.

I have employer based health care, so I don't know the inner workings. However I want everyone to have the advantage of ACA.

She is quite computer literate so I don't think she missed anything. However, at the end she was repeatedly sent an empty email for her confirmation. Nothing there at all. Strange. She was going to call and check on her status. However, overall she thought the process was ok.

Edit to add: We are in GA...it is well known that our governor and insurance commissioner have vowed to throw as many obstacles as possible.

test, test and test again......every condition needs to be proven true and also proven false and have recovery options.
Building these applications, with large Oracle databases....and complex interfacing feeds.....and a multitude of file transfers......and online panels to ask all appropriate questions/accept and route/save answers.........is immensely complex.
Please give them time to work out the IT bugs......it will work fine eventually.
We can't possibly know all the planning/design that went into this....and all that was involved with programming it.
Let's all have patience....and respect for people doing a tremendously difficult task for the greater good of so many millions of people. All feedback that's given with a positive frame of mind to improve the process would be the best assistance, that we folks can contribute to this success. We can't even imagine how much time and energy these people developing/running the new system have and are providing.
