CVS Caremark prepared to help customers with new Affordable Care Act coverage

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — With coverage under the Affordable Care Act now underway for millions of Americans, CVS Caremark has announced that it is ready to help patients who may experience coverage issues or have questions as they access care and prescription medications under new plans for the first time.

"CVS/pharmacy is committed to assisting our patients who may encounter disruptions in their prescription insurance coverage beginning January 1," Helena Foulkes, president of CVS/pharmacy and EVP of CVS Caremark, said. "Our pharmacy teams will provide information to help patients contact the appropriate health plan or insurance exchange, and we are actively communicating with insurance plans and government agencies to help minimize disruption to care whenever possible."

In some circumstances and based on clinical considerations, CVS/pharmacy will assist patients who are experiencing a temporary disruption in insurance coverage with a transitional or "bridge" supply of medication to support their continuity of care. A bridge supply is a prescription of 15 or 30 days. For patients who express financial hardship, a bridge supply may be provided as a courtesy to help them remain adherent to their medication therapy while they resolve their coverage issues.

MinuteClinic will be providing similar flexibility for patients who may be in transition with their health care coverage.

Not only was Ryan a Social Security baby, even dear Ayn herself wound up dependent on that program alone in her later years. Nobody's ever said she refused any of the checks! And they were even less than today's.

It was very interesting in Sunday School at the UMC last Sunday. One lady who used to be a chemistry teacher - no problems with science - and also owns a major local farm said she'd been wrestling with her religious duties toward the social gospel lately. There's a guy there who's extremely uneducated and uninformed, but he has a bit of conscience and it's been bothering him too. He said he was confused about how rich people ever got into heaven, but he's also resigned to the false notion that he should wait for his reward in the afterlife. With very little class time left, I could only tell him that a person's relationship to their $ or lack thereof was what counted; what they do with it. He really is a guy who tries to help others. He's the one who helped me set up my big campaign sign in the yard since it was after dark and he was unlikely to be discovered.

we got our cards a couple of weeks ago (Oregon), and it looks like it really will work great for us. I had to have a flu shot last week, just showed the card and it was free (rather than $50). And one kid needs an eye exam and new glasses, which we've scheduled for next week with an optometrist we usually have used, only its covered by insurance now. We have more paperwork to do to schedule checkups and so forth, but that's in the next month or two.

I work with two guys, both with families, who would qualify but listened to all the bad press and didn't bother to do the paperwork. After hearing my stories one of them had me print out the paperwork for him, the other's still going to wait.

These numbers are awesome.

For everyone that steers even one person in the right direction, I applaud you. You're my heroes. And a well understood and utilized ACA will do more than anything to help us in November.

Last night in the news they said that the legislature is thinking of passing a bill to make it illegal for doctors and hospitals to treat people that got their insurance through Obamacare. They are crazy here!!!!

Thank you for taking that time. More people can get help, and find out the truth rather than the media's BS. Old fashioned word of mouth still works.

i always want to keep up with the totals. i also have talked to anyone i know about signing up. you are right. it is usually those who are a little computer challenged. i went to my friends house and i sat at her PC and walked her through how to go on line. Of course i think the HealthPlanFinder.com site in Washington is really good. We got to compare several plans and she now knows that she has options and she is now a lot more comfortable looking up more information. her son qualifies for medicaid which will save her $3,000 a year because she was paying for a "disaster" plan for him. now he can actually get health care. i think good old word of mouth works wonders. there is so much propaganda out there. i have found though, that if i can get them to just look at what is out there, then they begin to see that they can actually get the help that they need. We just have to keep picking away and we can make an impact - one person at a time. Thank you for staying on top of the numbers. They are growing and that is wonderful.
