I still love the Prez and his wife. She in her outfits in Japan? He being him? Man, we are lucky. For all the wrangling we have for 2 more years, he's kicking ass and taking names! My Prez is walking the walk, and I love him for that!

I still don't understand what the problem was with Michelle Obama's dress in Japan.

I thought someone meant to say "darling," not "daring."

The whole family walks the walk. They do it with dignity, honor, compassion and humanity.

Beautiful!

... and wound up getting far more than even I expected.

He is intelligent, wise beyond his years, witty, eloquent, knows how to act appropriately on the world stage as well as in the domestic arena. Always the smartest man in the room, and the adult amidst whining children. He is able to see the Big Picture while his detractors can't see beyond their own nose.

Michelle has proven herself to be not only a helpmeet to her husband, but a powerful force to be reckoned with in her own right. Her sense of style and flair is only surpassed by her good sense in using her position as First Lady to a promote a healthy lifestyle along with a healthy attitude, and to address issues like the plight of our veterans among others. To say she has acted "above and beyond" the traditional role of the president's wife would be a vast understatement; she has instead expanded that role and, in the doing, has set a very high bar for every presidential spouse who follows her in that position.

The Obama daughters have been a shining example of what children raised by loving parents can be. They exemplify what "family values" are all about. They are self-confident, articulate, and eager to take their place in the world as well-informed, well-educated adults, thanks to parents who have never allowed the obligations of their positions to deter them from their responsibilities as parents.

It is a sad commentary on what DU has become that this OP, and the replies to it, are relegated to the BOG, where those of us who want to recognize the accomplishments of a Democratic president have to do so in a "protected group" in order to be free of the constant bashing of a truly remarkable man, and his equally remarkable family.

...from the few things that have dribbled out about it, it sounds horrible. It just seems to go against most everything he seems to stand for, and I don't get it.

I love the guy too, but this TPP crap is really confounding.
