Richard and President Obama in Broward County
Richard was a lifelong conservative and he was fed up. As a Vietnam veteran he quickly grew frustrated about troops being sent into Iraq and couldnt help but think this is another Vietnamit was his last straw.
When his wife Sue, a registered Democrat, saw Barack Obama speak at the 2004 DNC she was drawn in. She told her husband this guy is going places.
Richard was intrigued too. So a few years later when a campaign office opened near him in Broward County he decided to check it out for himself.
Richard and his wife were frequent faces in the office after that. One day while he was out canvassing, Richard received a call telling him to hurry back as soon as possible. When he got back to the office a special visitor was waiting: Barack Obama.
Richard approached the future President and proudly told him, Youve got a full scale Republican working for you, sir. The President laughed and said we needed more people like him.
With the President keeping his promise to end the war in Iraq you know Richard is IN again for 2012. President Obama will always stand up for our troops and their familiesget the facts by visiting Veterans for Obama today.

(31,240 posts)Two great ladies, who got all their country club lady friends onboard the Obama train. Their husbands? Not so much, at least not publicly. Imagine my joy, while riding through the most affluent sections of town (in a red state), and seeing these neighborhoods peppered with Obama signs. I had never seen anything like it.
It was an amazing phenomenon that I hope will be repeated in 2012. Just like Richard, I was bowled over by the diversity I saw. Rich/Poor, Black/White/Latin/Asian; Factory Workers; Business People, and the people who likely cleaned their offices, all on a mission. It was the most awe inspiring thing I'd ever witnessed firsthand.

(31,240 posts)But I hope to get out there soon. I injured my back when I moved last year, and it's been slow going for me. But I'll do what I can within those limitations.
