"He kept us safe!"

Remember when W was running in '04, and one of the main pillars of his campaign was that "He kept us safe?" We here at DU were mostly disgusted with the claim because, of course, he did NOT keep us safe. He presided over the greatest loss of civilian lives due to a hostile act in our nation's history. But the Right never let the facts stand in the way of a good campaign slogan.

Well, now we have a president who has not only "kept us safe," but has made the greatest strides in responding to 9/11 since...well...9/11.

But will the Right admit that "He has kept us safe?" Of course not. We get crickets. Nada.

Just gotta love the hypocrisy.

1. It's the narrative, not the reality.

We have a very difficult situation in this country where people have been conditioned to substitute a narrative for reality.

I strongly suspect that the belief that Bush was a better guardian than Obama is not as popular as the noise machine portrays it. Unfortunately, people tend to believe the noise machine after too much exposure.

And it must have been the scary black man that got Bin Laden. Or something like that.

They will twist themselves in knots over it, or they'll just pretend none of it ever happened. Great post! KnR

received an urgent communique from France, Germany and Russia, warning that "a big one" was coming, and that Bin Laden would "be using planes".

He totally ignored this message, and didn't even tell his CIA director, George Tenet, or Condy Rice!!!!

Dubya is responsible for 9/11. He did nothing to stop it.

"Just gotta love the hypocrisy." Absolutely right. 9/11 was on his watch and he used it to sell the country on a war with Iraq. I feel safer now with this President in office.
