Obama to host 'To Kill A Mockingbird' screening at White House
By Amie Parnes - 04/04/12 12:15 PM ET

President Obama not only will appear in the introduction to the airing of "To Kill a Mockingbird" Saturday evening on USA Network, he also will host a screening at the White House Thursday evening, White House officials confirm to The Hill.

It's the 50th anniversary of the release of the film that tells the tale of lawyer Atticus Finch, played by Gregory Peck, who defends an innocent black man against a charge of rape. Obama wanted to participate in what an aide called a "special" opportunity.

It's unclear who will attend the White House screening.

to watch that not long ago to see how people might have been attracted to Nazism. The Holocaust is riveting to me. I can't seem to fathom how it happened so I've spent hours and hours watching films from all angles. I've learned a lot. But absolutely nothing excuses what happened even long, long before the final solution.

Take the Nazis out of it, and you have every Olympics opening ceremony that's ever been made since then.

interesting. The Scout's little friend Dill was based on Truman Capote. They were next door neighbors. Even Atticas was a little based on her dad. Her sister is still living and she is 100 yrs old.
