(25,699 posts)Kinda reminds me of the "almost politically correct redneck" meme, though...

(171,066 posts)They're admitted rednecks, so that doesn't surprise me. I live in GA and see them all the time. As long as the sentiment is honest, and that sign is hard to miss! I liked it!

(49 posts)Rednecks are the only group of people that still can manufacture actual things and repair things so they work again. Get over the flag (a little ironic, no?) and don't be snarky, we NEED the working man on our side.

(71,611 posts)It's nearly inarguable that a vote FOR Obama is absent the kind of insanity and irrationality that pollutes our political process, but it's rarely acknowledged. The Reich-wing occasionally attempts to paint African-American support for Obama as "race-based" but I find that nearly ludicrous given the delayed support of that "base" for Obama during the 2008 Democratic Primaries, where the majority of that support went to Hillary (and others) as Obama proved himself in the crucible of fire.
Obama ... the choice of "sensible" voters. I like that.

(11,304 posts)to their senses. My daughter-in-law side of the family are like that. They voted for Hillary and McCain in the general. They wouldn't or couldn't vote for the black man. I can't understand why people would vote against their own financial interests. Sometimes I find in my little old high school mind that you just can't reason with stupid. These very people are getting medicaid and medicare and social security but they just won't stop to think that the old white men are more likely to take those things away from you then the black man in the white house. Really nuts.

(33,224 posts)2012 Obama is a much better campaigner than 2008 Obama. Gone is "clinging to their religion".
... but there's more to be done. Working class whites should absolutely vote democratic. Luckily, I think Romney is explaining why better than we could.

(1,085 posts)I understand that a lot of people see this symbol as a symbol of racism but I think we should accept the explanation of those that say its only "heritage and not hate" and not start to quibble among ourselves. It took courage to put up this sign and lets appreciate that.
Once a "red neck" explained to me he was a red neck and what he meant was that he worked hard all day out in the sun trying to feed his family and make a home for them...thus getting a "red neck" Isn't that the very kind of people we want?.. the very kind that work hard and have been so cruelly tricked and taken advantage of by Republicans and radical conservatives....
Thanks for your support Red Neck and "welcome" and applause from this old Yankee!

(246 posts)It is hereditary you can't escape it. It has nothing to do with education, religion or racism. Nor do you have to be a dumbass Republican. But you do have to know who won the last Nascar race at Talledega and remember what Harry Gant's car number was
1976 I campaigned for Jimmy Carter driving around in a '54 Ford with glass packs and mag wheels, Molly Hatchet on the 8 track. ounce of Redbud under the seat.
1980 I worked for Carter again.
1988 and 1990, I voted for Ben Jones ("Cooter" from Dukes of Hazard) for Congress.
1992 I kicked a guy's ass for keying my truck because I had a Clinton bumper sticker.
1996 I was ticketed for obscenity in South Carolina for having a bumper sticker that said "Worry about your job, not Clinton's blow job".
2008 I went back to my home state of Ga to knock on doors for Obama (I managed to stay out trouble) This year I'm not working on the campaign just putting in a few dollars when I can...
Sorry, but no cars on blocks in the front yard or hound dogs under the porch and no confederate flag flying from a CB antenna. My Long Island NY wife has successfully domesticated me.

(171,066 posts)You go, armed and liberal! Lots of rednecks around here (near Savannah) and I haven't met a liberal among them, but I still maintain hope. Say 'hi' to the wife; I'm from there also!

(246 posts)Not all of us are wearing mullets and wife beaters, A few of us even got educated and learned table manners. Author Pat Conroy(Prince of Tides) is my favorite example of a redneck who made good.

Imagine my surprise that the interviewer allowed that to be aired. "Secret Muslim"?
