Guy tries to escape by driving off - in a police cruiser

Police in Pennsylvania said a man believed to be under the influence of drugs stole a police cruiser and broke into a home while attempting to escape.

Pennsylvania State Police and police from Jackson Township and Vintondale Borough said they responded to a Nanty Glo neighborhood Saturday on a report of a suspicious person, The (Johnstown, Pa.) Tribune-Democrat reported Monday.

Investigators said Anthony Joseph Fox, 26, seemed to be under the influence of drugs and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was handcuffed and placed in the back of a state police car, but he was able to free his hands and make his way to the front seat of the car, police said.

Fox allegedly drove the car to Jackson Township, where he crashed the patrol car and fled on foot.
