U.S. man steals $350K worth of human skin from hospital

A Pennsylvania man has been charged with theft and tampering with records after he allegedly stole $357,000 worth of human skin from a hospital over three years.

Garek Dudek, 54, allegedly thieved the skin grafts from Mercy Philadelphia Hospital between November 2011 and July 2013, NBC News reports.

Working for regenerative medicine company, Organogenesis, Dudek was in charge of supplying the hospital with skin grafts, which he was able to order any time from his company.

But instead, he allegedly made several unauthorized purchases on the hospital's behalf and kept the flesh for himself. He was also caught on two occasions taking skin grafts from the hospital and bringing them to his car, police say.
