Dead grandmother gets best seat in the house at her disco-themed funeral

Miriam Burbank was no shrinking violet in life, she liked to party, enjoyed a cold beer and even the odd scotch.

Her daughters decided to make her funeral a reflection of her party lifestyle complete with disco balls and party music. But they didn’t stop there.

Known as Mae Mae to her friends and the family, New Orleans resident Ms Burbank was sat at a table at the centre of her funeral in a living room setting with her favourite beer, whiskey and cigarettes.

The deceased 53-year-old had been a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints American football team and was dressed in their colours, including the painting of her nails in brown and gold.
