Of the shocking Walmart bathroom meth lab, police chief Terry Davis said, "That kind of blew my mind when I read the report. Weve found a lot of shake and bake meth labs in different places but never inside a business."
It is actually scary that people were making meth in such a public place given how dangerous these labs can be. The good news is that police have surveillance video of the location, so it is possible they will be able to figure out who the perpetrator is in this case.
The other strange thing about this weird news is that the pseudoephedrine pills used in the meth lab were not actually purchased at Walmart. They came from a different store. It seems this criminal did not choose the location simply for convenience.

Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis said a cleaning crew found a Nestle water bottle and five empty packets of pseudoephedrine between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. in a stall in the restroom in the front of the store. He said the cleaning crew contacted managers, who contacted police.
Davis said the pseudoephedrine was another store's brand and not a brand available at Walmart, so it is unclear why someone would bring the ingredients into the public restroom to make the batch of meth there.
Residue was found in the bottle, and it is believed the meth that was produced was removed from the bottle and possibly used in the restroom.

(62,444 posts)I think the lab creator might have been the principal customer! I have no idea how people make that stuff--I do know they have made it harder to get good snot-clearing meds as a consequence.

(135,425 posts)Of course, I know nothing about this stuff. I know they use the "good" snot medicine, which makes it harder for people with colds and allergies, and now, thanks to the internet, I know that they need a plastic bottle as well, but I have no idea what the methodology is--do they just stick the pills in the water bottle and shake, or is there more to it? Well, I couldn't stand not knowing, so I googled! There's apparently chemicals involved, as well!

That sounds like an accurate representation of what was going on in the Walmart bathroom!
I can't imagine how or why anyone would want to fuck themselves up with that junk! I've never seen anyone on it who looks even halfway normal. You'd think that would be an advertisement against the stuff.

Tulsa police arrest a woman for mixing chemicals to make meth inside a south Tulsa Walmart on Thursday.
Elizabeth Alisha Greta Halfmoon, 45, also known to go by Alisha Halfmoon, was arrested for endeavoring to manufacture meth at the 81st and Lewis store.
-snip-
When I saw her she had just finished mixing sulfuric acid with starter fluid in a bottle, says Officer Shelby.
They immediately got her, and the ingredients, out of the store before any of the shoppers got hurt.

(26,219 posts)I have never witnessed the smell, but have heard that is it quite pungent not to mention very distinctive.
One would have thought someone would have at least checked it out to see if someone was lighting turds in there or something.

(135,425 posts)Maybe they thought it was funky cleaning supplies, or maybe she was in there at a slow time in a 24 hour store?
Lighting turds....

(26,219 posts)seen regarding meth busts, it seems like it was the smell that tipped off the cops (or neighbors to call the cops).
Of course, that was years ago, so what do I know. They have likely figured out a way of cooking that stuff off where it doesn't stink or explode any more.
