Tell Congress to pass the Production Tax Credit for wind energy.

President Obama and the Senate Dems support this, so apparently it's just the House holding it up.

"We Need Jobs" -- Wind Industry Workers Gather to Urge Congress to Pass the Production Tax Credit

"We were just notified this morning that the facility is closing down for the last two weeks of this year. That's not a great thing to hear around Christmas."

Those are the words of Henry Redding (pictured above on the left), a furloughed wind industry worker from Hanover, Pennsylvania. Redding spoke with several other industry employees today who've been laid off or furloughed due to the uncertain fate of the wind Production Tax Credit (PTC).

"We can't afford to let manufacturing jobs go away anymore. This isn't about Democrats or Republicans, this is about working families," said Bernat.

The press conference where Redding and Bernat spoke was organized by the United Steelworkers, the Blue Green Alliance, the Sierra Club, and Oceana. Obama Administration Invests in Seven Offshore Wind Projects
“With the fate of the wind industry Production Tax Credit still in limbo, however, the continued success of the wind industry is in jeopardy. Congress must extend the PTC, with an ITC option for offshore developers, to ensure that these and dozens of other companies across the country continue their historic growth. A strong and successful wind industry will not only provide good-paying American jobs, but also ensures a long-lasting source of clean energy that doesn’t pollute our air and water.”

Congress: Show Your Support for Wind Energy!

Congress continues to delay renewing the Production Tax Credit, an important financing provision for wind energy. Every day of stalling means more American jobs are in jeopardy. Already, wind-turbine orders for next year are drying up, creating a crisis where layoffs are imminent.

Right now, Congress is sitting on a gold mine of clean-energy jobs, but to them partisan politics is more important. You can bet that Big Coal and Big Oil have plenty of allies in Congress, but when it comes time to invest in wind energy, the door is being shut. It's up to you to help open that door again.
