CNN’s Sally Kohn Scolds Fellow Bernie Supporters for Booing Her Praise of Hillary

http://www.mediaite.com/online/cnns-sally-kohn-scolds-fellow-bernie-supporters-for-booing-her-praise-of-hillary/

CNN political commentator Sally Kohn endorsed Bernie Sanders this past weekend, but it’s the reaction she got for one moment in particular that’s putting her at odds with some of his fans.

Anyone with an internet connection knows that a lot of Sanders fans really don’t like Clinton because of her Wall Street connections, problematic ties to a number of industries, her foreign policy record, and pretty much everything else strong progressives don’t like.

As she spoke yesterday at a Sanders rally, Kohn took a moment to make it clear she doesn’t hate Clinton, but her praise of the other Democratic candidate in the race (coupled with her saying Clinton would make an “extraordinary president”) received boos.

So she wrote a piece for The Daily Beast today clarifying that yes, she prefers Sanders, but has a problem with “shockingly vitriolic” supporters of his who don’t care for Clinton as a reasonable alternative:

Listen, I can sit around and critique Clinton’s positions on key issues as much as the next leftist. But I’m also honest enough to acknowledge where our visions overlap and praise her when appropriate.

I happen to think that Senator Sanders is 100 percent realistic about his goals for our nation, but his supporters are completely delusional if they think Secretary Clinton is evil. We can think Bernie Sanders is the better candidate without thinking Hillary Clinton is bad.

She’s also a little troubled by the fact that the Clinton campaign has been “far more unconditionally welcoming of the votes of Sanders supporters than vice versa.”

Kohn's whole "Holy cow, when did this happen?" routine isn't fooling me.

This is what she's basing her support on:

"I happen to think that Senator Sanders is 100 percent realistic about his goals for our nation."

Really! 100% realistic goals. Oh how I wish.

Yes, his lofty goal are wonderful and they are just that; GOALS!

We would all like to live in a land of milk and honey,
where there are no wars,
where the body of a 4 year old refugee boy doesn't wash up on the beach,
where there is a decent livable minimum wage of at least $15,
where parents can earn enough money to put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their kids,
where there is no racial, sexual orientation, or religious discrimination,
where the top 1% to 10% of the population doesn't have more wealth than the the bottom 90%
where kids can go to a state university to get a degree and graduate without a mountain of debt
where our infrastructure and transportation systems are as up to date, modern and efficient as those in other developed countries,
where our kids can go to school and we don't have to worry about some monster shooting them all to death,
where for that matter, you can go shopping in Walmart, or go to your workplace and not get shot by some crazy with a gun,
where everyone has access to good healthcare and not have to mortgage their home or spend all their retirement savings for that care,
where there are free and open elections, where everyone gets to vote, with no gerrymandering of districts, no voter id laws that disenfranchise a segment of our communities.

Yes, those are my goals, but what are goals and what can be accomplished in hopefully a 8 year term are two totally different aspirations. Hillary knows what she can get accomplished, she knows how to work and collaborate to get effective change. Will all the goals be met, hell no, but she will put us on a path so that maybe someday, in my life time those goals will be reached.

I do not have the same confidence that Bernie Sanders has the patience, finesse, political skills or experience to accomplish his promises.

But that still wouldn't have made it realistic.

that if you look at her twitter post about the article, the people who seem most angry with her are Bernie fans. They're attacking her for exactly what she talked about in her article.

One Bernie fan posted this: "thx for the endorsement. But u'll find out how "welcoming" H supporters are now that ur for Bernie. True colors." BUT when you look at the other replies, most of the Hillary fans are saying they appreciate what she wrote, even if she's backing a different candidate.

Indeed. Very welcoming.

Does anyone suppose that's what he was suggesting?
