The idea that only 1% of our country is prospering is just not true

There is tremendous income inequality in our country and it needs to be dealt with and I'm confident Hillary will. A lot of the old jobs are gone and despite what some politicians say they aren't coming back. The strongly blue city I live in, however, has a booming economy and a lot more than 1% of the population are prospering. I'm not sure what the percentage would be but they can't build houses fast enough, the restaurants are full and I can assure you it's not just oligarchs and corporatists that are eating there and buying new Toyotas. There are a lot of people that need help- a significant number need assistance and our new Democratic Mayor Megan Barry is struggling to find ways to help those that have been left behind. As the city grows so do those problems. As a Democrat it is incumbent on us to help the people that are hurting-our Republican controlled state house couldn't care less. I do think hyperbolic sloganeering does nothing to deal with the problems .

more houses again. the restaurants are doing well -- although they slow down in the summer when the snow birds leave.

it always amazes me when i see big families in restaurants -- including children. the local mexican restaurant is always crowded.

the beauty salons and nail salons are doing well. women bring their little girls in for pedicures. i was in my 40s when i got my first pedicure.

might just be the area i live in. there are other areas in phoenix where i'm sure people are struggling.
