Youth Turnout in New York Wasn't Much Different Than in 2008 (Revolution AWOL again)

Factlet of the Day: Youth Turnout in New York Wasn't Much Different Than in 2008
—By Kevin Drum | Wed Apr. 20, 2016 12:33 PM EDT

The turnout rate among all residents aged 18-29 was up from 9.8 percent to 11.5 percent. That's a nice increase, but as I recall, Obama didn't spend a whole lot of time in New York in 2008. When you take that into account, it's hard to see much evidence here of a massive surge in youth interest caused by the Bernie Sanders campaign.

What's that? The NYPD says it was more like 11,000?

But, 50,000 kids came to his rally!

All these "young" (but I also think Bernie has a fair amount of older voters as well) and new voters that gravitated to Bernie's campaign, are much like the ones who glammed on to Obama in 2008. They love the big rallies, but that doesn't translate in to being active for the mid-terms. It's just not exciting enough.

that aren't exciting. That's where the damned republican retain their power because lots of democrats cant be bothered to go vote in them.

Now, the next task after getting Hillary into the White House, will be to get off year and local turnouts to improve. We have to do it.

They could blog on cell phones, they could post in discussion boards on cell phones.

They can't vote on cell phones, so they didn't.
