Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumMonmouth poll just out: a 25 point lead for Hillary in Maryland.
Excerpt:
Clinton has the support of 57% of likely Democratic primary voters in Maryland while Sanderss support stands at 32%. Clinton leads among practically every demographic group, including men (59% to 32%) and women (56% to 32%), white voters (52% to 39%) and black voters (64% to 20%), and voters under age 50 (50% to 39%) as well as those age 50 and older (64% to 25%).
The demographics of Marylands Democratic electorate are similar to past primary states where Clinton has done very well. However, it looks like that isnt as important a factor since she holds large leads among practically every voting bloc, said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

(217 posts)Is early voting there?
BlueMTexpat
(15,369 posts)although only certain locations are open - not always one's usual polling place. I worked outside on the first day of early voting, holding up Hillary signs and smiling a lot to convey my enthusiasm without badgering people, LOL.
There weren't huge crowds but there was a steady trickle of folks going in and voting. It was quite relaxed for the most part. And very friendly. Most people stopped to chat with us after they had voted. There were persons holding posters for Van Hollen and Edwards. Elijah Cummings will be a shoo-in in my district, so no one needed to be a cheerleader for him.
There were LOTS of Trump signs and a couple Cruz signs posted, but no individuals were brave enough to hold up signs for either. I live in a VERY blue part of MD, LOL.
The most competitive election appeared to be for the County School Board. I chatted with some of the SB candidates who were holding their own signs, but also researched more at home before I cast my own vote.
I wish all states were as enlightened in their voting procedures as MD is! And yes, it is a closed primary so actual Dems can choose the Dem nominee. But I also wish that so many of these young new voters who talk about revolution need to realize that NO things can happen unless one is also paying attention to the down-ticket races. Those who are voting for Bernie and Bernie alone, without educating themselves on the other candidates who are running and why it is important to support them will ALWAYS be disappointed at the pace of change.
School Board elections, for example, are EXTREMELY important. Just ask Texas or some of the other states where creationist crazies have gotten elected. This affects generations of students.

(217 posts)We have a very popular early and absentee vote system in Florida. Unfortunately our wretch of a Governor has pushed against, but we still have many days and solid early vote involvement.
I trully believe these factors helped Hillary a lot down here. We were not voting on anything else in my area.
BlueMTexpat
(15,369 posts)your state for Hillary! I sympathize with you for your true wretch of a governor.
We used to have the wonderful MOM in MD! I was - and still am - very sorry to see him go. We then did the almost unthinkable and elected a GOPer. Fortunately, Dems control the legislature and have been able to limit the harm. It also helps that most MD GOPers are not generally as insane as their DC counterparts and GOPers in red states. So far, at least.
