Apparently I'd get banned for this GDP post in this group.

Hmm, I don't think so! I'm pretty sure my strong support of Hillary has never wavered and entertaining the idea of moving to the left as a party does not negate that.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=1809422

Just posting this here to prove a point. The point that the Hillary group does NOT ban people for thinking. It bans people who are NOT Hillary supporters and want to disrupt.

From what I can observe, HRC people rarely go near the BSers' anarchic, ill-kempt club house.

It and its deranged denizens seem to exist in a quarantined corner of this place.

The Stasi were the infamous East German state police, who not only guarded the Berlin Wall and had East Germans spying on each other for decades ! The Cultural Revolution students practically called their own parents and siblings traitors to Chairman Mao , with a lot of those poor people being killed in secret . Lately, a lot of the Bernie supporters here are acting just like the Stasi by spying on us here !

It's EASY to gripe online, and it's EASY to vote in online polls, but it's NOT EASY to actually check the correct box to register as a Democrat to vote in primary election.

Wait a minute. What am I saying ... actually IT IS EASY TO REGISTER as a Democrat. Silly me!

They're just take too much pride in being able to boast about how "Independent" they are and not being beholden to any Party. They're gonna stick-it-to-the-man by NOT being part of the establishment.

I guess they thought they were teaching the party a lesson by not declaring their affiliation. But, in this case, it looks like THEY are the ones who learned a difficult lesson. If you want to play, you have to play by the rules. (And you can't change the rules halfway through the process simply because you don't like the rules.)

What it really takes is COMMITMENT to the process, and being a part of the establishment so that one can contribute and guide the direction of the establishment (in this case... the PARTY).

Ain't never gonna change.

And you better believe I freaking vote, in EVERY election. It's not as easy anymore, either, from across the ocean. But somehow I managed to vote in my CLOSED primary from across the Atlantic...funny that.

It's usually more effective to go into the building and talk to people than to stand outside shouting about how much it sucks.

... it's very showy. "Hey, everyone! Look at me! Look at me! I'm shouting!"

All the rage, none of the work, half-the calories.

Also, it has the added benefit of perpetual victimhood... "Nobody listens to me! The system is rigged! The establishment and something something oligarchs."

Bernie DU'ers feel if you don't agree in lock step you should be banned from their group. God forbid anyone say anything the least bit opposite to their manifesto.

Hillary supporters on the other hand, encourage positive comments.

"Progressives" look for ways to make progress. It's not about pie in the sky promises, but day to day hard work to improve the lives of all our people. Hillary understands that, but to Bernie, it's a foreign concept.

Seriously though, many here feel the same way. Bernie's revolution will in no way trickle down ticket. For that to happen he should have been cultivating relationships for decades. He should have been meeting with state leaders, lent his name and helped fundraise for the down ticket.

Say Bernie wins and becomes president, yes he can count on our support. But unless he has a hell of a huge liberal margin in Congress, shit won't get done. A liberal margin he has done nothing to help happen.

I want to see the day when every freaking republican is out of a job. Every.Single.One.

... the country.

He's been totally dishonest (at this point) about why congress matters even more than the presidency and the founders set it up that way.

If, like FDR, Obama had an 80% dem congress then the speaker of the house could propose legislation that was veto proof and get it passed without the presidents approval.

Sanders has NEVER EVER fought for a majority dem congress or proposed ways to get it.

He's been a camplaigner (not my word)

as did Hillary after winning in NY.

The problem is WE know how the government works, and that you MUST build support for your views from the ground up, and move as many people as you can from the opposition to your side, in order to form a true majority. NOTHING else, other than hard earned compromise makes progress in a representative government. It was designed that way to protect the people from wildly jumping extremes that can create chaos.

If she and the party drift left, that's wonderful.

I'd rather we didn't drift to the right.
