There is a wonderful gif at the link.

I am somewhat tech-challenged, LOL.

(5,648 posts)The "needle" in the original statement referred to a gate in the wall around Jerusalem called "The Eye of the Needle" because it was small. In order to get a camel through it the rider had to dismount unload any baggage, and the beast had to get down on its knees to get it through it. So it was possible, but obviously it was easier to just use another gate.
I found this in "HEBREW NEW TESTAMENT STUDIES" by way of substantiation:
"For the last two centuries it has been common teaching in Sunday School that there is a gate in Jerusalem called the eye of the needle through which a camel could not pass unless it stooped and first had all its baggage first removed. After dark, when the main gates were shut, travelers or merchants would have to use this smaller gate, through which the camel could only enter unencumbered and crawling on its knees!"
Just a little trivia - and no, I am not Jewish.
I think that we need to find another saying that better describes Sanders' more difficult situation.
