(11,619 posts)I do not intend to go out and look for a fight.
But I find it upsetting that the only place we can really have an honest discussion about Clinton is in this protected zone.
About half the time, I have GD turned off. But with posts supporting Sanders openly appearing in GD, Breaking News, and everywhere else, they are hard to escape.

(297,321 posts)to this.. have you seen it?! Hilariously true.. the acting is brilliant and the script wrote itself, of course.

I love those two guys.

(5,648 posts)Those that I dislike the most, those with the most obnoxious posts, will never vote for Hillary; the only reason their here on DU is to support Sanders. Why should I treat them as "brethren"?
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I know how you feel though.

(5,648 posts)... the worst of them will vote Green Party or sit their hands and not vote. There are scores of them who claim, probably truthfully, that they haven voted for a Democratic candidate in the last 1- to 20 years. They were willing to make an exception for Sanders, but.....
We have to understand those voters who populate DU are in no way representative of the typical Democratic voter out there. You're not representative, I'm not representative, and the most zealous Bernie supporters on DU are not representative either. DU attracts the most politically passionate, not normal voters.
How many DU members are there? Let's be generous and say 20K and they are scattered all over the country and some are in foreign lands. How we we vote, how they will vote (or don't vote) almost certainly is not going to change single thing in the general election. Let's not obsess how a few Bernie supporters on DU are going to vote.
DemonGoddess
(4,640 posts)given the sources they link from. Having said that, you know damn well they'll never vote for a real Dem.

(26,080 posts)The Bernie or Bust people, no.
I am tired of this mentality. Hillary was a rockstar for Obama, and we '08 HRC people stepped up, too. It was nothing like this.

(26,080 posts)The people I know, even the conservatives ones, don't act like that.

(3,733 posts)They say right up front they're not.
I'm also sure there are more than the usual amount of conservative trolls actively
posting as Bernie supporters.
Since the jury syatem seems weighted in their favor
the RW sources are showing up more frequently.
I also just saw an OP that was openly wishing for
Hillary to be indicted.
IT's going to be nasty until Skinner calls it.
But the I expect it will clean itself up really fast.

(3,733 posts)Hillary is winning.
No amount of their dudebro crap is going to effect that.
They know they've lost and most of them know as soon as
DU goes on GE footing that they'll either not come here anymore
or that they'll get tombstoned.
I think that's why the over the top crap now.
They're getting in as much unhinged venting as possible

(1,630 posts)There are some who are truly progressive or even moderates who want to make sure this country is in good hands. We can disagree about the best way to do that but they are sincere. For those who are Hillary haters? I'm afraid they are a lost cause, though I suppose we should forgive them, too. I hope that doesn't mean they get to stay at DU, though! The end of the primary cannot come soon enough!

(9,494 posts)75% of Bernie supporters in the real world have already said they will vote for Hillary. By November many more will come on board but I have no expectations from people who have sworn never to vote for Hillary. We will never change their minds. Most, if not all, are not even Democrats.
Why should I care about them, their feelings or their opinions? They mean nothing to me.
realmirage
(2,117 posts)have gone online to vent their anger. Most people in the real world think it's insane to go from liking hillary 4 months ago, to believing she's Damien from the Omen just because some new democratic candidate went negative when losing became apparent. If there was no Bernie these same people would be praising Hillary. But when humans latch onto a team, candidate, competitor, and that person doesn't win, emotions take over

(2,117 posts)I grasped at those same straws in 08. But I was never this vicious. These so called democrats here are one toke over the line, full on acid flashback get-yer-survival-bunker-ready cuz hill's gonna incite armageddon...
I'm torn on whether to give a full pass on their behavior. But I do understand what you are saying.

(1,968 posts)In '08, I shrugged, got on the Obama train, and got on with my life. I was, all things considered, pretty content with the outcome and it took me about three seconds to get over my disappointment.
Forgiving? Some of them...no, I simply can't. They'll never come off block. I never want to read what they've written ever again.

(15,369 posts)Most are like some of us were in 2008. They will be disappointed for varying reasons and lengths of time, but in the end will recognize that we actually have a true gem of a candidate and a unique opportunity to move forward in so many ways. I believe that most of these are longtime or new Dems who know in the final analysis who the Real Enemy is.
Those I will welcome, and gladly.
But some were never Dems and never in a million years will be. Whether they are Indies who support Bernie because they are truly inspired by him as they have never before been by anyone else and never - ever- will be again, or whether they are Libertarians who want to see the Dem party destroyed, or whether they are genuine Hillary-haters, or whether they are GOPer trolls who specifically have been trying to sow dissension and see Bernie as the best means of enabling a GOP win this November - none of that really matters.
The first three groups might vote Dem in the GE but ONLY if Bernie is the candidate and ONLY then if he has maintained their purist standard throughout and never - ever - compromised. That "might" is troubling and is pretty flimsy support to base a campaign for President on, especially when Bernie and his supporters have specifically managed to alienate large swaths of loyal Dem base voters.
Even then, the loyal Dem base would nonetheless hold their noses and vote for him because the GOP alternative is too awful to contemplate.
The likelihood of GOPer trolls ever voting Dem is nil. Period.
I too hope that those in ALL non-Dem groups NEVER post on DU again. If they do, they will go straight to my Iggy List (most are likely there already) and will hopefully will be PPRed as well.
