If it feels like the various surrogates officially representing Bernie Sanders have each begun using the final days of his losing campaign to each carry out their own angry personal agendas, even as Sanders himself seems unsure of where or even how to draw the line when it comes to the bitter vitriol being spewed on his behalf, you’re not alone. One key endorser of Sanders is now criticizing another for what he views as behavior that’s gone “off track” and is “not helpful.”

Didn't know if you'd seen it.. thought it might be interesting to you.. it was to me.

Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon, the first and only member of the Senate to endorse Bernie Sanders when he got behind him two weeks ago, may already be regretting the move. When he was asked about the Rosario Dawson incident, he shut it down decisively, referring to it as “not helpful to the campaign, and it’s certainly not in keeping with what Bernie wants to see.”

Strangely, Bernie himself has been unwilling or unable to put those same words into his own mouth. This comes on the heels of other Sanders surrogates going off the rails. Susan Sarandon suggested she’d rather see Donald Trump win than Hillary Clinton, while Tim Robbins compared South Carolina to Guam. It’s become nearly impossible to find a remaining Sanders surrogate who isn’t saying offensive and divisive things. Perhaps that’s why Merkley, who has to get reelected in four years, wants no part of the vitriol
