Every time progressives want to teach the party a lesson bad things happen.

They threw the election to Bush in 2000 They were mad about single-payer in 2010 and we got Republican gerrymandering. This year we have a golden opportunity to change the balance of the Supreme Court Will they screw that up next?

There's nothing progressive about going backwards, of giving Republicans power in order to take this country backwards. These are not progressives. These are, even if they don't know it, Republican sympathizers calling themselves progressive because their actions only help Republicans. It would be incumbent upon and healthier for Democrats, Liberals, and true-Progressives to ignore the petulance of some Progressives because giving in to it only hurts progress and them in their day-to-day lives.

I know it's hard to tune it out if you're on DU or any other political
website very much.

The fact is that most of the progressives are fine with Hillary. They may have preferred Bernie
but they live in the real world.
They won't be willing to let spite get in the way of supreme court justices.

Too many of them remember what happened when Nader split the vote because in Ralphs own words
There isn't a dimes worth of difference between Gore and Bush.
Turned out that Ralph was full of shit.
Bernie knows that as well so as hard it might be for him, he'll support Hillary as well.

The Bernie or Bust group is negligible. Very small and very obnoxious and loud.

A large number of them aren't even progressives they're Libertarians or straight up
conservative Republicans.

Haven't you seen all the sourcing of RW media here at DU the last week.
Nobody but the most angry and deluded believe that crap.

They're going to even worse today.
After today it may quiet down some once the real Bernie supporters
realize that his being the nominee is a statistical impossibility.

Of course the worst of the poo flinging
dudebros are going to fling poo until Skinner calls it.
Then they'll go somewhere else ot get tombstoned.

I have some fine friends who are solid Bernie supports, but they're not stupid either. The Bermie or Bust thing is not unlike the PUMA thing 8 years ago. It was actually being instigated by right wingers.

So long as they don't start to think they'll teach the party a lesson we can come together AND hopefully HRC can move more in their direction which is not at all a bad thing.

The majority of Progressive/Liberals know you have to work within the government and public apparatus to effect change. Bernie and some of his supporters, I'm not sure you would even call them Progressive/Liberals. Bernie is a self identified Socialist. There is a big difference between the ideologies.

Ronald Regan demonized the word Liberal and it was hardly spoken by a Democratic politician for 20 years.

But many of those most fervent and anti-Hillary Sanders supporters do identify as progressive.

The point is anytime "progressives", the self-claimed title of the "bass", decide to teach the party a lesson, bad things happen. I expect a probably somewhat larger percentage of them to not vote for HRC, but they'll be more than offset by moderate Republicans and indies repulsed by Trump or Cruz.
