Jane Sanders: Bernie will provide tax returns when Clinton releases transcripts

http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/04/bernie-sanders-tax-returns-hillary-clinton-transcripts-222457

Jane Sanders said Tuesday that her husband will make his tax returns public when Hillary Clinton releases transcripts of her paid speeches for Wall Street.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked Sanders about when she might release her husband's old tax returns, as the senator from Vermont has said his wife prepares them each year.

"He's counting on you to release them. You did release the 2014 tax returns. What about earlier years? How's that looking?" Blitzer said.

"You know, what's interesting is we released the 2014," Sanders said. "Hillary Clinton hasn't released a transcript yet."

She then confirmed that she'll provide the returns when Clinton publishes her Wall Street transcripts, before trying to turn the interview away from the topic.

"Honestly, Wolf, these are not the issues that are of concern to the American people," she said. "I implore you as a leading, wonderful host of a major show, please talk about the issues that concern the American people instead of delegate math and who can win or who can lose."

Earlier in the show, Sanders said: "Everybody just keeps on talking about delegate math, delegate math. And I'm more of a fan of history and social studies and literature."

Bernie Sanders disclosed his 2014 tax returns earlier this month after promising to do so during the April 14 debate. Days later, Dana Bash asked him on CNN if he would release his returns from the last eight years like Clinton did.

"We made less money in a given year than Secretary Clinton made in one speech," he said on April 17. "Jane and I don't have a bunch of accountants working for us. We will get it out."
When Bash pushed him, Sanders said he would "probably" release the rest in a week's time.

Hillary will be the nominee, you will have to worry about it with Bernie...and the tax people...

I'm a bit curious as to whether Bernie will take speaking engagements after this is over. My guess is yes, since he initially said that Hillary had a right to make money by making speeches. And if he does, maybe it will push him out of that 13.4% tax bracket.

He might WANT to...but come on: what would be the point? He's given the same basic speech for the past year. Why pay him to listen to it in person when you can just hook a computer to a projector and play YouTube videos?

But the rhetoric now only includes the corrupting influence of "billionaires."

I guess "millionaires" are kinda OK, now (just in case).

Clinton's 35 years of tax records aren't considered viable but something she said as a private citizen is mandatory for them to decide on whether or not to release more than one year of documentation. It's not an either/or set or conditions, Ms. Sanders, release more of your taxes or STFU.

Even if Bernie has nothing to hide with those tax returns, he sure is doing nothing to dispel that. Also, what Jane Sanders, her husband, and most all Bernie-ites cannot comprehend is those speaking fees. Groups, organizations, companies will hire speakers to come to meetings and talk about their life experiences. Rarely do they ever speak about the business of the organization they are speaking to. The more interesting those life experiences, the more they are paid. The more famous the speaker, even higher fees are paid. Bernie just isn't interesting enough, or has not done enough to the eyes of most people to get any speaking invitations. Going to college campuses and speaking is easy when you can be short of specifics. He knows he is speaking to the politically naive. That doesn't work with voters that are struggling to get by or voters over 40 - they have a BS filter.

It's no wonder that she is not anxious to have her taxes scrutinized. Hopefully, after tonight, it will all be moot anyway.

Some of us "American people" want to see if your tax returns and rhetoric jive.

Hillary Clinton has released multiple years of complete returns. We already know that $15 million of her and her husband's "wall street speech money" went to charity and that they paid more than a 30% tax rate.

We know from the single--not quite complete return you and your husband released, took over $50 thousand in deductions and paid a lower tax rate than Mitt Romney did with all his available deductions and loopholes...hmmmm

Also, Jane. There is no tradition of presidential candidates releasing transcripts from private speaking engagements. Keep up with the innuendo that Hillary Clinton has sold her soul--it only shows the nasty state of your own.

they just lied for several weeks about it. Just like their justification for continuing to trash the Democratic Party, they keep moving the goal posts on what defines their campaign's goal(s).

They've become the whiniest campaign in memory.
